I understand your plight. It’s inexpressibly frustrating when you want to have this Bigfoot hello darkness my old friend shirt the pages in front of you. But there is an invisible force pushing your mind away from them, from their words, from what they are trying to convey. And I’m so happy for you, and I hope you don’t let your dyslexia prevent you from working at what you want to achieve again. Love from the US!

I had a great english teacher Mrs.Sanghmitra Dasgupta. So she could see in me what no one, including myself saw. She taught me to fall in love with English and write poetry. Next, she encouraged me so much. She gave me hope. Am obliged to her forever. My daughter is the opposite of dyslexic. Then, she’s not go good with arithmetic but so good with grammar, literature and everything that has to do with reading. Finally, she started reading so well at age four. But once it has to do with maths and arithmetic, she gets me upset.
Wish I could find the”monsiuer metronnet” that would do the magic in her own case. I am mildly dyslexic and so much of this story mirrors mine. I didn’t become a truly proficient reader until I started reading to my students in class every day. Oral reading forced me to track across a page of printed text in a way I couldn’t do reading to myself. It is important that children have opportunities to read to adults, some don’t need it but for some its essential.

I am so very glad that he encountered his teacher and that his teacher is so gifted at teaching. However, dyslexia takes more than one amazing teacher. Dyslexia requires identification, first, and then comprehensive, explicit, multi-sensory instruction to teach the dyslexic brain how to read. I only put this Bigfoot hello darkness my old friend shirt in here because so many dyslexic kids encounter adults who tell them to “just try harder” or “find a book you like” or “if your parents only read to you early on.” Clearly this young man’s family knew and got their son the help he needed. He’s lucky. And he’s lucky to have found this teacher.
